Matthijs de Ligt approves Manchester United move

According to Fabrizio Romano, Matthijs de Ligt is reported to be prioritising a move to Manchester United and has given his green light for the move. The Red Devils are reported to be holding discussions with Bayern Munich over the fee and structure of the deal as this particular transfer continues to accelerate.

Matthijs de Ligt wants Manchester Untied move
Erik ten Hag will want a centre-back signed up early in this window, as he would then want INEOS to focus their efforts on strengthening other key areas of the squad. Manchester United have let Raphael Varane leave on a free transfer, with the Frenchman leaving behind a significant void for the club to fill.

Ten Hag prioritises a defensive partner for Lisandro Martinez, as Manchester United is in talks with Matthijs de Ligt’s camp over a move. After loosely exploring many defensive names in the market, INEOS have narrowed down their search towards the 24-year-old defender, with Erik ten Hag eyeing a reunion with the Dutchman.

Manchester United has already made a contract proposal to De Ligt, with Fabrizio Romano insisting that personal terms are not going to be a problem. In fact, the 24-year-old defender has given his green light to sign for the Red Devils as he is prioritising a move to Old Trafford and not discussing a move with any other club.

De Ligt wants to quit Bayern Munich after a difficult season in which he lost his starting berth. There are no indications that he would be the first choice under new boss Vincent Kompany. Hence, he might look forward to a reunion with Ten Hag and hope to revive his best version of the game.

Manchester United and Bayern are discussing the deal
Romano also updated that Bayern Munich and Manchester United are in discussions to reach an agreement on the De Ligt deal. The Red Devils report that they value the defender at €50 million, although the Bundesliga giants might demand significantly more considering their own investment in signing the Dutchman.

For now, the two clubs are discussing a fee and the structure of the deal, and there’s optimism that an agreement will be reached soon. For De Ligt, it could be a fantastic move to reunite with Ten Hag, under whom he played some of his best football to date.
